Frankston Counselling Services has been providing professional counselling and psychological interventions to the Mornington Peninsula Community for over 20 years. We specialize in helping people identify and achieve their personal goals by adequately coping with issues that have been causing them distress, anxiety and stagnation. Our Psychologists

Alex Panagiotopoulos (Clinical Director & Senior Clinical Psychologist)

B.A. (Psych), Grad. Dip. (Counselling), MClinPsych (PostReg).

Alex is the Clinical Director of Frankston Counselling Services and has been working in private practice for 20 years. He overlooks the delivery of assessment and treatment services offered to clients and implements/sources training/professional development opportunities that will equip psychologists with the necessary skill sets and knowledge that will improve client outcomes.  

Alex is an advocate of ongoing training and has had extensive experience working in government (DHS - Disability Specialist Services Team) and acute clinical settings (incl. Psychiatric and Drugs & Alcohol Units) whilst treating adults, adolescents and children (across the lifespan) with:

- complex psychiatric presentations;

- substance use disorders;

- intellectual disabilities;

- neurodevelopmental disorders (e.g. ASD / ADHD);

- mood disorders;

- anger management issues;

- grief and loss issues;

- anxiety disorders;

- relationship problems;

- P.T.S.D and

- gambling disorders.


Armando Miotti (Senior & Clinical Psychologist)

B App. Sci.(HM), Grad. Dip. App. Sci. (Psych), MPsych (Clinical).

Armando is a Clinical Psychologist and Senior Psychologist at Frankston Counselling Services and has been working in private practice for over 10 years. He has had extensive experience working in government and non-government mental health services.

Armando has extensive experience in working with adults with:

- complex psychiatric presentations;

- substance use disorders;

- mood disorders;

- anxiety disorders;

- P.T.S.D and

- personality disorders.

Jo-Anne Fleischer (Senior Psychologist, Clinical Hypnotherapist)
BA (Soc Sci), Grad. Dip. (App. Psych).

Jo has experience in working in medical and natural health settings and uses a holistic approach when assessing and treating clients. Jo has extensive experience in working with people with:

- sleep disorders;

- relationship problems;

- substance use disorders;

- digestion/ mind-gut problems;

- mood disorders and

- anxiety disorders.

Qasim Latifi (Senior Psychologist)

B.A (Science), B.A (Arts), BPsychSc (Hons).

Qasim has experience in working in school settings and has a particular interest in conducting cognitive assessments and adaptive functioning assessments.  Qasim also has extensive experience in working with people with:

- intellectual disabilities;

- neurodevelopmental disorders (e.g. ASD / ADHD);

- learning disorders/ developmental delay;

- substance use disorders;

- mood disorders and

- anxiety disorders.


Jacob Topy (Psychologist)
B.A (Science), Grad. Dip. (Psych Studies).

Jacob has worked in business, education and across a variety of community sector roles in disability, mental health and aged care. Jacob has extensive experience in working with people with:

- gambling disorders

- substance use disorders;

- mood disorders;

- anger management;

- anxiety disorders and

- P.T.S.D.


Martha Panagiotopoulos (Psychologist)
B.A (Science), Grad. Dip. (Ed.Psych), MPsych (Ed).

Martha has experience in working in school settings and has a particular interest in conducting cognitive assessments and adaptive functioning assessments. Martha also has extensive experience in working with people with:

- intellectual disabilities;

- neurodevelopmental disorders (e.g. ASD / ADHD);

- learning disorders/ developmental delay;

- substance use disorders;

- mood disorders and

- anxiety disorders.


Lisa Winther (Psychologist)
B.A (Science), BSc. (Hons) Psychology.

Lisa has experience in working in community and clinical settings and has extensive experience in working with people with:

- personality disorders;

- relationship problems;

- eating disorders;

- substance use disorders;

- mood disorders and

- anxiety disorders.

Geo Urbina (Provisional Psychologist and Counsellor)

Geo has a particular interest in conducting cognitive assessments and adaptive functioning assessments and has extensive experience in working with people with:

- intellectual disabilities;

- neurodevelopmental disorders (e.g. ASD / ADHD);

- learning disorders/ developmental delay;

- substance use disorders;

- mood disorders and

- anxiety disorders.

Our trained and fully accredited Psychologists eclectically use a range of psychotherapeutic techniques including but not limited to:

  • Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (C.B.T) for panic disorder and depression;

     

     

     

  • Psychodynamic Therapy for personality disorders, attachment issues and some mood disorders;

     

     

     

  • Transpersonal Therapy for family and/or couples therapy;

     

     

     

  • Behaviour Therapy for challenging behaviours and behaviour modification;

     

     

     

  • Relaxation and Hypnotherapy for phobias & behaviour modification (e.g smoking & eating behaviours);

     

     

     

  • Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (E.M.D.R) for resolving traumatic significant life events;

     

     

     

  • Systematic Desensitisation for phobias;

     

     

     

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (A.C.T) for people with emotional dysregulation issues and/or personality disorders;

     

  • Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (D.B.T) for people with personality disorders.
